Case Studies
StudyBeds have a proven and successful track record in many University halls of residence and in several boarding schools around the country. StudyBeds are also in use in Fire & Rescue training centres, Aparthotels and care homes for use of residential wardens.
Essentially, StudyBeds work where there is a need to both sleep and work in a confined space.
Our Case Studies highlight just how effective the deployment of StudyBeds can be.
Portsmouth University
-
Portsmouth University were one of the first universities to make use of StudyBeds as part of their ‘void strategy’.
StudyBeds were used to convert medium sized rooms to twin rooms. These proved very popular with International students who were keen to share but at a lower room rate.
26 StudyBeds were installed in September 2009 and every single one is still performing faultlessly on a daily basis.
Nottingham Trent University
Nottingham Trent University recently under took a major overhaul of Hampden Hall, one of it’s high quality halls of residence, to improve the accommodation provided for students.
The halls consist of individual community units, each with 6 separate bedroom/study areas which are inevitably, somewhat spatially challenged. The before and after pictures show how effective the use of StudyBeds can be in very small rooms – the extra floor space generated makes a big difference.
The transformation created with the installation of StudyBeds has been amazing and provides the students with a really comfortable bed, and absolutely HUGE desk space.

Falmouth University
-
As a rapidly expanding University, Falmouth had been seeking to increase their bed spaces whilst offering a more flexible choice for students. In the summer of 2014 they installed 96 StudyBeds on a twinning basis.
The rooms had previously been used for sole occupancy and this strategy not only resolved their bed space shortfall issue, but allowed for increased revenues from the same space whilst giving students the opportunity to rent their rooms for less. A real WIN – WIN scenario!
Such was the success and popularity of this installation, that a further 117 StudyBeds were ordered and installed in 2015, and the programme continued to be rolled out, with another 416 StudyBeds installed in time for the fresh 2016 intake, and a further 230 StudyBeds in 2022
London School of Economics
-
In 2015 LSE ordered 42 StudyBeds as part of their ongoing refurbishment programme.
We were able to supply the StudyBeds finished to match their existing colour scheme and the beds proved particularly useful in doubling up as extra sleeping facilities for summer lets.
The installation was so successful that they ordered a further 54 StudyBeds to be installed during 2016 plus another 44 in the 2017/18 academic year.
University of Leicester
The University of Leicester required extra bed spaces and in September 2016 15 StudyBeds were installed in their fabulous halls of residence overlooking the Botanical Gardens.
Some provided the instant extra bed spaces needed by allowing single rooms to become twinned rooms, and others were used to make more challenging single rooms instantly more spacious.
StudyBeds proved a great success and a further 8 were added for the 2017 intake.
Holyport Academy
-
This relatively new school required a workable twinning solution for their new intake of 6th form boarders; StudyBed provided the perfect answer!
Along with matching wardrobes and top boxes the beds provided everything required to work and sleep in a compact footprint without compromising on quality or functionality.
Tring School of Performing Arts
Tring School of Performing Arts wanted to improve the layout of their dormitories and StudyBeds were the perfect solution.
11 StudyBeds were installed and were arranged so as to create separate work and sleep areas for each pupil sharing the room. The before and after pictures show how much better the room functions with the use of StudyBed’s clever space-saving design.
